    Not comfortable

Not comfy & it starts to tear as you wear it and move striker around. Just took it off and put it away

    Good quality

This is a pretty decent survival fire starter necklace . I have been wearing it for several weeks now and it doesn’t irritate my skin . Seems pretty well built and although I haven’t tried to start a fire with it yet I am sure it will do just fine when the time comes to .Overall I would defisntly recommend this.

I wear mine daily as a necklace. People around me notice and ask about it.

I like to show people the sparks it makes, really makes people go wow. Most ask where I bought it. I have used the necklace to start a fire with a cotton ball out of a pill bottle. Really works well. I like that fire is always available because the necklace is always around my neck. I used the test piece of fire string they sent and I verify the fire string ignites easily and burns for quite a while.

This was a gift. For survival kits; campers; hikers and a just in case scenario. I love that it can be gender friendly, not overly fancy, but has an eye catching look…, not to mention vital usage within reach!

Useful Necklace – Looks Good, Too

I haven’t used this in the wild yet, but I feel good knowing I have this useful product on hand. Meanwhile, it looks really cool looking to wear! I did not expect that an item this useful could also be such an interesting statement piece of jewelry. (I purchased the black one.)

    Overall I like the product

I like it. Came in a plastic bag, nothing fancy but no need for it either. The paracord can feel a bit thick as an everyday necklace but excelente for outdoors. The only problem is having to remove the protective black paint from the rod for use. The scraper works, one side more than the other so try both to know which. It also works if the rod is scratched by a knife

    Works very well and lightweight

Lightweight and works well… if you are strong enough to strike the flint rod with the circular steel. I am not talking about hulk strong, I speak of adult strong. A kiddo under 10 years will probably not be able to produce the force needed to produce a spark. I would look for another option for your children.

Best striker, tender works and burns for a resonable amount of time

I have been using fire rods for starting camping and outside grill fires for a number of years. I’m just as likely to reach into my pocket for the 1/2″ by 4″ fire rod to start a fire as to use a lighter. This works because I carry tender and a knife (or four) with me all the time. And where I am the availability of natural tender is high. This fire starter answers to problems I have had in the past, the first is a good striker and the second is: how to carry fueled tender. A cotton ball is a better source of tender than the little bit of wax coated cotton thread in the paracord but has to be carried. And it certainly doesn’t burn as long as this tender did.My test was 1.5″ of the cotton cord and the striker. I used another fire rod. It took much longer (2 minutes?) to get a little pile of fluff but it did happen. The striker was better than any other striker I’ve used, including my knives. It through larger bigger sparks. It threw them in a controlled direction. Having said that, it took more than a dozen tries before I got a big enough spark into my little pile of tender to light. But once it did light, it burned for a good 45 to 60 seconds. More than enough to get the next stage going.Yes, I would recommend this item, if only for the striker and tender cord. I’m not going to worry about the size of the rod on the cord, I’ve used the same size enough to know it will work.

    Frustrating. Poor instructions. Uncomfortable.

I really wanted to like this. In theory it was going to work great with my situation. It comes with some knots that allow for some adjustment to head size. That’s nice however it ends up with the knots scratching the crap out of my neck. Real uncomfortable. Then I saw they included some plastic connectors with it. There is zero instruction about what these are. No explanation in the amazon description etc. I finally realized if I threaded the paracord through, and cut to length, I could use these to clasp the necklace together. This seemed like a good solution to scratching the heck out of my neck. Big problems trying to set this up. I cut the paracord to length. Then tried to burn the ends to put a finish on them as I do with a lot of other shoelaces, cords etc. Jesus, then it starts flaming up. So that doesn’t work. Try to thread it in the plastic things, but the holes are too small and the paracord is coming apart all over. So I cut it to start fresh. Finally I get it threaded and tie a knot to fit into the plastic connector….. but the connector’s hole is too small for the large knot. So the plastic connector is stupid and worthless for this. I then see what my further options are, and damn after all this I’ve trimmed it too short so it’s impossible to use as a necklace. So basically worthless to me….. what do I do? An anklet? Ha ha… no, I’m a dude. Basically a pile of garbage. To the person that makes these. Cool idea, but you seriously need to put in some effort with your instructions. Do a sheet of paper with step by step instructions with pictures. Act like you are explaining it to your 80 year old grandma or an 8 year old kid. I’m in my 40s. Very intelligent with a masters degree. I love figuring things out. If I made a mess of this, I’m sure a lot of people are too. Anyways. Interesting idea, but in the trash for me. Regret this.

    Great product small issue

This is an excellent idea of a product but I tried to wear it all the time and it cut up my chest so I would recommend wearing it outside your shirt or at least not while you sleep. I think it could be better if it had some kind of rubber casing over it when not in use while it’s worn.

    Part of the EDC

This necklace is lightweight and well made. It is perfect for a last ditch effort on getting a fire started. I would recommend having more reliable measures in place before needing to rely on this necklace. That said, it is exactly what it needs and is intended to be. It is lightweight and silent. I have never worn a necklace. But i feel naked without this one.Another cool thing is I get questions from people asking what it is! It is pretty cool to give them a little demo!

    You’ll diggit.

Pros- Good quality, comfortable, looks great, and it’s inexpensive!Only “Con” (if you can call it one) it took a bit to figure out how to tie it to look like it does in the description, given that there were no instructions on how to do so and it showed up with two tied loops at either end that are not joined together out of the box. I’m fairly dumb tho, so take this with a grain of salt…I felt like I was failing an IQ test as I tried to figure out how the two loops could be joined by threading the pendant thru them in different ways. I chose the Neanderthal route and simply retied it using a knot that took me far to long to learn how to tie as a boy scout.

    Great backup Firestarter

Not much more you can say, it’s a great backup firestarter and has tinder built into the cord. I was able to get spark easy. Keep in mind this is small and some people may have a hard time due to its size.

    It works!

I wondered if the ferro rod would be too small for me to get a good spark (I’m a newbie), but it surprised me, and I surprised myself. Got my tinder fluff lit on the first try! Happy camper! 🙂

    Well Worth the Buy!

Cheaper in price than others But Way Better in Quality! The necklace part has fire cord for help in starting fires and it also has fishing line to use for fishing or trap setting! It came with a short piece to show what is inside the necklace. Plus it is easily adjustable. As soon as I got it the first thing I did was take it outside to see if it would start a fire. No problem, I actually started 2 to make sure. I always try out my gear before taking it out in the woods! It also arrived a few days before scheduled so I have no complaint at all for the necklace or the seller!

Adequate, if you use good tinder

This’ll work, and I love the form factor, but if you have damp or difficult tinder, you’ll struggle. As with any fire starter, don’t make it your only solution; have a kit with some other options, something soaked with accelerant, a butane lighter, char cloth, etc. Worth the price if you’re interested in one of these, and I can’t imagine the others could be any better.

Best one I’ve tried so far

This product is exactly what it says it is. The internal stand combusts as described and the fero rod is high quality. I would suggest tying the knots different, as they are a simple over hand knot and there are better choices for both security and asthetic reasons, but that’s my only gripe. High quality product and i will buy it again. Buy with confidence.

  36. Hayden Elmer

    Little small but love it

Not bad. So everyone knows, it will NOT strike at first. There is a protective coating on the ferro rod that you have to scrape through. Don’t worry it does very well after that. Only thing that I don’t like is it is just a little too small to comfortably hold and strike, but it will still work great for me in a situation. Overall yes I love it

Very cool necklace, especially for the price.

Arrived exactly when it was supposed to today in appropriate packaging. As a fashion accessory, It is a tough looking, masculine necklace. It looks like something that would cost $75 at Macy’s or The Buckle. As a piece of EDC survival gear, It is also very well engineered. The para-cord is innovative that can be separated out with integrated fishing line, fire cord, and other surprises. The fire starter threw out a huge spark on the first strike. I HIGHLY recommend this product!

    Simple Necklace.

It is pretty much what it looks like…..A small piece of paracord with a fire starter attached that you can wear a a necklace.Should probably be priced at around $7-$10 , not $20.*** Never used fire starter, not sure if it generates a good spark. I just use it for cosmetic looks of necklace. People ask me about it occasionally.

Awesome, not going in the woods without it.

My wife got me one as gift for Easter. Came with a little strand on sample cordage so you could see what was inside. Took it right outside and lit a fire. Worked great. With tinder cord and fishing line AND one cord of cotton thread. For under $10 you can go wrong. I’m recommending all my outdoor enthusiast friends get one. And anyone reading this you should get one as well.

    Not very good

This product isn’t one of the better offerings from pskook. The ferro rod got completely stuck right next to the striker from just wearing it on my neck and sweating. Had to cut the ferro off and drill the holes to be able to repurpose it on a new piece of line to hang on my neck. The striker is abysmal! Does not strike even decent sparks. I ended up just tossing the striker and have the ferro rod as an emergency piece of gear for when I’m going into the backcountry.

    Amazing Fire Starter Necklaces.

These Fire Starter Necklaces are awesome. I bought these for me and my sons since we love the outdoors. Been teaching them about survival and self reliance since they were little. They loved them. Even had an extra one to give to a good friend of ours which he wore right away. These necklaces are no joke. Love the fact that they don’t just have paracord strands inside the main cord. They also have a red cord for starting fire which seems to have a bit of wax on it. The sample they gave us in the package was perfect for testing. We lit a fire going on the first strike. There is also a fishing line inside the paracord as well. Love the colors and value for the money. Buy several and give to family and friends. Great conversation starters to.

    Remember, it’s for emergency EDC

I am reading reviews on this product and seeing that some people are complaining that the ferro rod is too short for comfortable use. You have to remember that this is a waterproof necklace (that is fashionable) that is really only designed to be used a handful of times as a last resort or emergency. If you plan on buying this just to use it to start your weekend camp fire every weekend, you are wasting it’s usage in my opinion. By wearing this necklace everywhere, you have a bullet proof way to make fire with the proper tinder instead of carrying a case of matches in your pocket. It’s a solid product and is great for it’s price. Not only do you get the ferro rod and striker, but you get actual para-cord which is long enough to break down the smaller strands and make snares as well as utilizing the main piece as a bow-drill string. Among other uses. Wear this, a small fixed blade neck knife (tucked under your shirt) and a para-cord bracelet and you can fashionably have at least SOME survival tools on you at all times without a pack. I recommend this if you want a cool necklace but also want a way to make fire.

This does work. On youtube there is some vids trashing this.IF you use the tinder correctly and practice. It will work.Used Black beard fire tinder but I guess any would work as well if used correctly.Only problem I had after getting the paint scrapped off was getting a spark to hit the tinder.Does this replace my blast match or a larger ferro rod , matches or lighter? No, however it’s cheap, light weight and a good emergency backup.
