    Every detail perfect

The craftsmanship of is perfect. Every detail is perfect. Edge is razor sharp. Sheath is perfect with every stitch. Maybe the best quality knife I have purchased. I am not one to write a review typically, but this knife deserves the review. I intend to check out their other models.

Awesome quality! 100x better than expected for the price

This came VERY well packaged and the quality blew me away. I was not expecting this nice of a product for this price! I’d pay double if I had seen this in a store and knew it was this nice. If you’re considering this, get it, you won’t be disappointed.

    Second purchase, Again Great Value

Same as post on other knife…. I’m not an avid collector, but rather like to buy a few good knives for gifts to younger relatives. But, I do know a lot about what is good and bad. These knives are a great value and are hand crafted with quite a lot of skill and concern for the final product. After receiving these (I bought more than one) and having the opportunity to look closer, I was very pleased with all aspects of the knives. Very nice patterns on the steel, well shaped, thickness, weight and balance nice, grip very ergonomic and comfortable. Nice piece of walnut, with ample grain visible. Makes for an excellent gift or keeper for your own collection. Another note worth mentioning, they apply a rust preventative to the entire knife, wrap several times to keep air tight, and place in a nice box (better for gifting) and then wrap that box air tight. So, what you receive is an unmarked white wrapped box with a bar-code. Very nice and discrete. I haven’t received a nicer package from any knife manufacturer. Heck, the sheath alone is worth the price they sell the entire package for, it is a very nice sheath, thick, sturdy, large belt slot, heavy duty snaps, removable decor. Well done ! My only comment to the manufacturer would be to improve upon the images on Amazon – they need more angles, closeups, show craftsmanship, as well as sheath quality.

    A knife to be envied

The pictures on Amazon were great but when I got the actual product in the mail it was even better. The handle was very comfortable to the hand and the walnut was absolutely beautiful. The edge was sharp and clean and you can see the Damascus markings throughout the entire cutting edge indicating authenticity. The overall appearance was that of a knife to be envied.I purchased the knife in July 2019 and it has held up well showing no defects in workmanship over a short time. I am very pleased with this purchase and would eagerly recommend it to my closest friends. I only have one regret. I purchased only one.I have seen other reviewers make complaints such as the knife gave way while I was digging rocks out of the ground or the knife came with a coating of oil or grease on it. A little more investigation would help people understand that a hunting type knife is not designed to dig rocks out of the ground. A higher carbon steel retains an edge longer but in exchange the metal may be more ridged. Just a matter of the right tool at the right time.A layer of oil or grease is sometimes put on a knife to prevent damage or any possible rusting of the product during shipping, transit or storage time. It appears that the manufacturer is proud of his workmanship and has taken the time to protect it.I feel that anyone making this purchase will be pleased with their decision for years to come.By the way, the leather sheath is equally impressive.

Love this knife, little disappointed with handle

Likes: knifes blade shape and look, basic handle shape is good for “typical” holding, super sharp. Proud of the purchase and am excited to use it for hunting!Dislikes: I got it, removed the large amount of preservation on the knife, and cleaned it it so it wasn’t so oily. 1.5 months after it has been delivered (two weeks after Amazon return policy) the wood handle has what appears to be a crack that wasn’t there when it was delivered. It almost looks like the wood dried and cracked a bit. Not the end of the world but a bummer after owning it for 6 weeks with no use and washed only once. 🙁 I have placed a feedback request on the BigCat website but no response yet (1 week so far) I am hoping for a solution so I don’t have a crack that continues to grow larger. Other then that, the handle feel is a bit weird for some atypical holding for actions such as gutting cutting upward (not the best feel but only the sharper pointed wood feature, maybe better if it was a bit rounded/smoother). Going to work with the design this next hunting season to really understand the feel better with more application use.Neutral: it appears that moisture with put rust on your blade really quickly. No complaints as I get it and don’t do that typically but I have noticed brown rust coloring just being wet for just a few minutes on the countertop. I am all over this, but be aware. I have tried to sharpen yet.

Nice looking knife, leaves something to be desired though.

I recently received this knife in the mail (4/4/2021)and opened it excitingly. At first glance, it looked great and I was very pleased. Some closer inspection leaves something to be desired though. The blade is NOT straight and slants to the left a pretty noticeable amount. The cutting edge is relatively sharp with the exception of one chip in the cutting edge that snags on anything I cut. Im hoping I can work this out with my diamond sharpening stone, although I did not see a blade angle specified anywhere so I will have to redefine and sharpen the edge. I’ve never had a D2 steel blade but I have heard that they take a bit longer to sharpen than some other steels so I am not looking forward to taking the edge off and putting a new one on. The wood handle also has a small blotch on it which now that I’ve seen it is likely something I’ll be noticing every time I pick it up, along with the slanted blade. The logo/branding on the knife says “big cat roar knives” instead of “bobcat knives” as pictured and titled. Some positive notes about the knife is that it came well packaged and wrapped, it was also well oiled when I got it out of the packaging. The sheath seems to be decent quality as well. The overall feel and build to the knife also feels solid, but the slanted blade worries me and would keep me from doing anything more than using it as a kitchen knife.Overall I don’t think that I would recommend this knife if you’re planning on getting something that you could use and abuse as a hunting/survival/camping knife. I’m sure that it would do well as a kitchen knife.

    Bachelor gifts

I wasn’t totally sure about the knives originally I did like however that they stated they were handmade. I was purchasing these knives for my groomsmen all of which like me are hunting and fishing enthusiast we also appreciate modern day blacksmithing. I decided to order there’s knives as I felt they were functional as well my bachelors can use them as a showpiece if they wanted. Upon receiving my order I immediately went back online and order another for myself and my father. If you’re looking for a knife that is 100% functional as well you can put on the shelf these knives fit that description to a T. And if you’re contemplating purchasing because you’re not totally sure what you’re going to get I will summit up fast for you The Damascus blade was beautiful the handle extremely functional and fit my hand well and edge was sharp.

    Lindo

This is my first Damascus blade and it is gorgeous.

I probably won’t use this hunting or fishing simply because it is too nice. You won’t find a nicer blade for the price.

    Hard core knife!

My husband was delighted with this knife. The blade is exquisite and there’s a really nice heft to it and balance at the tang. The olive is very unusual and makes it distinctive to him. I imagine it will be even more personalized with use.

    Beautiful Piece! Great Value!

As a user and modest collector, my wife found this knife on Amazon and ordered it because the photo was so nice.I received the knife and was so impressed. There are a couple of minor finishing flaws but that is to be expected in a hand made item. The handle is beautiful. There is a lanyard hole (lined). There is a mosaic pin in the handle. The blade is raindrop style pattern welded steel and the guard is of the same steel. The handle (a very subjective subject) is a little on the large side for my hand but still very comfortable.Looking at the knife, I would have estimated its cost at three times the purchase price! This is a beautiful piece and I will be purchasing another as a birthday gift for my grandson who is also interested in hand forging.Great Job!Thank you for the Rich Boy’s Toy.

    Nice blade for the price.

Id like to begin by saying that I am happy with the knife but there are a few things off about it. The steel looks great, well formed with only a few minor flaws (mainly on the guard piece where one side is quite thinner then the other side, looks like a delamination that was ground out, but still strong) but came rather dull and will need to be sharpened before itll be useful. The handle however is quite bulky and is one of the reasons i gave it a lower rating. The sellers pictures does show a larger handle, but the one I received has a noticeably larger handle and does leave it feeling a bit awkward in the hand. Next I feel I should address the sheath…. yes its only a 60$ pattern-welded knife and some things will be overlooked and lower quality then a more expensive one, but you would hope youll get something close to whats pictured. the detail on the recessed, black stained part was a bit upsetting. The stain looks good and overall construction is what you might expect from a less expensive knife. The most important part of any knife is the steel, and this knife seems to have a good, well made blade. With a little work on the handle and sheath, Ill be able to turn it into an absolutely fantastic knife. If your looking for an inexpensive pattern-welded knife, this one isn’t too bad (you could do a lot worse in this price range) and would say its worth what your paying.

    Customer Service Is Great

*** Update ***I would like to say that Bobcat Knives has gone above and beyond in helping to correct the unfortunate issues we had with the first knife. They personally reached out and offered to a replacement (which was beautifully crafted, no flaws and had amazing Feathered Damascus blade with a very sturdy walnut handle and well made mosaic pins) free of charge. It was delivered within days of conversation on making the matter right. I am beyond ecstatic with Bobcat Knifes customer service. I will be ordering from them again in the future.***Original Message***Handle had a crack on it along with what appears to be some kind of wood patch on it. Damascus blade looks great but is flacked of leaving a sharp edge on blade. Was expecting good a good quality blade as per reviews I read prior to purchasing therefore only giving one star for now.

    Very well made

I bought this for my husbands birthday. For some reason I received 2 instead of 1. He decided to keep both anyway. Each blade has a different pattern, the wood handles are different colors. One is light, the other is darker. Each knife is truly unique, he is very happy with them and shows them off to everyone who comes over. Very good quality knives, a great gift for any collector.

Idk, it’s a roll of the dice

Update: I must have gotten a bad one, the replacement I received was quite sharp and not discolored from excessive grinding. So I went up from a one star to 3, because it was still a hassle. I get this knife, and I was so excited…. Until I got it pulled out of the box and it was duller than most butter knifes. The handle is awesome, and I love how it feels in my hand, but it couldn’t cut if you tried. I should be able to shave with this thing by the way they puff up their chest about it. Absolutely junk. Oh and who ever did “sharpen” the knife, had discolored the blade from heat. Well that’s going to remove any hardening its had. So yeah, not worth it.

    Fantastic knife!

I could not be happier with this knife! It is one of the best knives I’ve ever purchased, and well worth the priced. The blade itself is a beautiful Damascus pattern and very sharp, I mean very sharp! It has had no problems at all in the cutting and slicing tests I’ve done so far. The handle is hand crafted wood and feels as if it were made uniquely for my hand. The handle shape is perfect as in it will stay in place no matter how you are using the blade, plus the finish on the wood feels like silk. The blade is well crafted, very strong. The design and functionality of this knife is incredible. This knife has become my daily carry blade. It is easy to tell this was handmade because of the slight imperfections , such as one side of the guard is not exactly the same as the other or the lines of the bevel are very slightly off, but that is what makes this knife a thing of beauty. Even the sheath itself is great. Everything about this knife shows the time and care and dedication that was put into this knife. I will be purchasing at least 3 more blades from Bigcat Roars Knives very soon, probably more but have to pace myself lol. In conclusion I highly recommend this knife and this company, and urge you if you are a knife enthusiast or just need a great knife, to give them a shot. Thanks. Sorry so long but I really love this knife

    Almost perfect

I really like this knife a lot. I bought it to use as a hunting knife, which I haven’t gotten a chance to use it for that purpose so I will edit later if anything comes up. So far though I love the craftsmanship. The Damascus blade is beautiful, the hand crafted wood handle is beautiful, and the leather sheath is beautiful. Only complaints so far are that the sheath seems bulky for the size of the knife, and a couple reviewers said that the knife is “super sharp, razor sharp, etc.” and while it is sharp, I wouldn’t call it “razor sharp” out of the box. Maybe I’m nitpicking because I sharpen my knives to be truly razor sharp but this blade will not shave off arm hair out of the box, which is my measure of “razor sharp”. Not a huge deal since I can sharpen it more, so still 4 stars. Overall I really like it so far

Absolutely beautiful work of art solid as a rock

What I like about this knife I don’t think there’s enough room for me to say all the things I like about this knife. The darn thing is a work of art it is beautiful it is extremely well made.I am looking forward to seeing how well it wears over time The sheath is impressive and quite beautiful. But the knife itself is amazing I own buck knives I own Gerber knives let us just say I am a knife connoisseur I remember when old timer were all made from carbon steel and the blades would naturally blacken over time.I own world war II and world war I edition Swiss army knives that still hold the remarkable edge to this day.I’ve read some of the other negative reviews of this knife.and I am here to tell you that some of them are flat out lies. The one that says that the certificate of authenticity is misspelled I posted an image of it I dare you to find a misspelling in it lolthere are no imperfections in this knife and if there are I wasn’t able to detect them however I am very much looking forward to seeing how this knife wears over time. This thing is a work of art I would absolutely gift this to a friend or a relative with pride. So far I have found nothing negative to say about this but I will update the post in a year or so to let you know.I will say that this is not full tang however it is not advertised as such.So far the handle and the hilt seem to be of excellent quality and the Damascus steel was maintained throughout the hiltAs I’ve said three or four times already this thing is a work of art and I am really looking forward to seeing how she wears overtime.

    False advertising, not as described

I wanted a knife that was mounted horizontally on the belt, not vertical. This knife is supplied with a sheath that can only be mounted vertically on the belt. The knife is good quality and very nice design, but it’s not what I was led to believe on the description page, so I gave it a 2 stars for value.

    Very good EDC

I would have rated this a straight 5 across the board except that the description says the sheath can be worn horizontal. Unfortunately, it cannot. The knife doesn’t hold an edge very well but for the price it’s still a good deal.

    Beautiful Knife

This is a literal work of art.The craftsmanship in the blade is almost hypnotic. The handle has the perfect amount of heft to it. And in itself, is very well made.Having the leather scabbier is a great added bonus. If you don’t like this knife, you’re not a collector.Best knife purchase that I’ve ever made!

    Exceptional

Let’s start with the packaging. Out of the box it is “mummy wrapped”. Several layers of tightly wound protective wrapping. Slipped from the final baggie, it is well oiled. Never seen a knife so professionally packaged/prepped for shipping. The workmanship and therefore the quality is exceptional. If you are a knife person, you will recognize this immediately. Fake Damascus is often light-colored and just looks fake. This Damascus is deep and rich, giving the impression of being the real thing. As others have said in various reviews, spotting original Damascus is very difficult. Personally, I think this is the real deal. The handle has an ergonomic style that fits well in your hand as you grip it. The walnut gives a deep, dark, rich luster that adds greatly to the overall quality and appearance of the knife. Usually, it stops there and the scabbard is a cheaply made “toss away”. The quality of this scabbard matches that of the knife. The centerpiece of the scabbard is a quality faux alligator insert. I plan to locate a piece of real alligator and replace it later just for grins. Overall, if I could give this a 10, I would. At a gun show this would easily sell for $250-300, and I mean sell! I started not to purchase it, because, lord knows, I do not need another knife. However, I’m glad I did and consider it to be one of my best knife purchases. Highly recommend

The knife sheath is more decorative than functional for a hunting knife. Could use redesign.

Nice carbon steel blade. Knife is impressive. The sheath for the blade is way too fancy to be practical for a field knife where the ability to prevent the knife being lost is more important that a sheath with fancy leather work. Leather sheaths do not belong in the field with hunters in rainy weather. Leather gets wet and will rust the blade when the knife is put into the sheath, so I won’t be taking this knife hunting. Before you buy a hunting knife, get a well designed sheath. I actually prefer the K-Bar plastic sheath (sold extra) and the K-Bar parkerized knife blade to prevent rust. I got the K-Bar knife here and cut up a moose with it.

    Worth every penny!

Great knife well made and the sheath is excellent quality. Only reason I give 4 stars is the fact the knife was not sharp when I recieved it. Maybe its a safety reason? I don’t mind sharpening my own knives but I didnt expect to be able to run my finger down the blade after opening it. If you have small hands this knife handle will not work for you. It fits my hand perfect and its very comfortable but I have larger hands. For the price its a great buy and an excellent addition to my collection. The sheath alone in my opinion is worth half the total cost i paid. Well packaged and oiled. I would consider buying more knives from Bobcat but like I said the knife wasn’t sharp at all when I recieved it but for the price its worth sharpening after receiving it.

    Unrefined compared to sale images

Overall, for the price, it’s hard to complain, but the sheath is disappointing considering the images show a naturally stained leather, but what arrived is a patent finish brown with ZERO character of the leather. Everything appears well made, but the top notches were barely scratched into the surface of the knife I received as compared to the deep grooves of the sale imaged knife. The handle is rather plain but a few coats of tung oil should help it. It’s not all I was hoping for, but better than I actually expected.

    A feast for the eyes.

This is my second Bigcat Roar knife in a week . I can’t say enough of how it was package up like a tank . Came sharp enough to do damage zero burrs to strop, no dings or scratches on the handle or blade. Now to performance it did every thing I ask it to do but in most cases I never baton with a knife this small in fact I have never baton in the field in my opinion that’s what hatchets are for . It shaves those feather every one is so impressed with like a feather machine. You can shave out tent stacks in a heart beat. I notched out 6 graduating pot sticks 4 notches each and finish a spoon I had started . I have only had this a short time now 4 hours with the knife in hand there is one thing it was not meant as a carving knife it can be done but needs practice if your looking for a carver this is not the knife for you unless you are experienced. I can tell you one of the most important things is there were zero hot spots with this handle it feel and works like it looks just smooth and very comfortable . the sheath it works it has all the flaws of low end sheaths .All though it is nicer than many out there and is very decorative . I has a fatal flaw the pocket is shallower than the knife is long and over time since the knife tip is hitting the bottom of the sheath every time it is used, it will cut through the bottom over time . There is also a line of stitching running across the pocket of the sheath to hold down the belt flap the stitching is just sitting there waiting to get snagged and cut buy the tip of the knife . But this will not be the end of the sheath the side stitching and glue will hold it together . Now as to the handle remaining on the knife since it is a rat tailed handle only time will tell the tang is deep goes all the way back to the last pin so says the magnet. Even with some flaws, It’s a great knife now we will see how long it last . There is one more thing after spending more time yesterday this Harpoon blade shape in my opinion is good for one thing self defence not Bush Crafting it cuts it is most pointy good for making holes ,but for all around out door us there are better choices out there. But I still love it, it will get worked out this winter and next summer along with the Kukri.

    My son loved it

So my son likes to collect knives. This is one I thought he could add to his collection. The knife in itself and the leather sleeve was nice. However, I’m not sure if they were aware of it molding. Yes it came with mold on it. Luckily we were able to clean it off with some leather cleaner. It’s a beautiful knife.

Beautiful knife, needs sheath of same craftsmanship

The plain brown sheath with a plastic insert is just not to the quality of the knife. Natural leather. With leather or no insert…the plastic is tacky. But it is a beautiful, well made knife. And fits perfectly in your hand.

    A great knife

First of all, the care that was put into packaging my knife was above and beyond what I expected. The blade was oiled and the knife was in its sheath. The craftsmanship of the leather sheath is exceptional. The knifes handle has an excellent grip and feel. Probably one of the more comfortable handles I’ve ever felt. The blade is A decent thickness and is sturdy and doesn’t move. My overall evaluation is that you are getting a great value for the money. I would buy from Bobcat knives again and would recommend to family and friends!!!

    Not real Damascus!!

It’s a nice knife but it’s stamped Damascus and not true Damascus!

My husband absolutely loves this knife and the sheath. It’s an incredible work of art. The craftsmanship is beautiful. I would expect to pay much more for a knife of this quality.

    Perfect as a gift

I bought this for my uncle as a birthday present. He rides with a group of guys and they all have knives. Some have big daggers, fishing knives, and he really liked this one. The craftsmanship, detail, and the Damascus blade itself; for the price was well worth the amount I paid. A+

Very nice knife for the price.

I have bought several similar knives in this price range and this one is by far my favorite. The blade has a beautiful Damascus pattern to it, nice natural wood handle, and a better than average overall finish (grind is symmetrical, all components fit nicely together with no gaps or rough spots, etc.) On some of the knives I’ve purchased, the sheath is where they really cheap out, but this sheath is actually very nice. I’ve gotten quite a few compliments on it, and one day I was at a swap meet talking to a knife dealer And he noticed it on my belt and asked to see it. He was very impressed with it and I asked him what he thought he would sell something like for that at his table. His answer was $250-$300, which is obviously a lot more than I paid. I just Smiled and told him I had gotten a great deal on it.

    Impressive look and feel

Just received it. The blade seems well done and the handle seems very done as well. I can’t speak to it’s cutting or how it holds up with use yet. Overall a very good first impression.

    needs better packaging

The heavy oil on the blade ran down on the wood handle and discolored the wood. Mine is almost black, not like the sales picture at all. I would suggest packing the handle better to keep the oil off it to maintain the natural color of the walnut. For the price, the knife looks o.k.
