    A Very Useful Knife

I received this knife as a winner of a Beavercraft giveaway. As I told Beavercraft prior to winning this knife, I am not a outdoor person. So, my ability to fully put this knife through its paced is limited. Here is what I can share with my limiting use so farThe knife’s appearance is quite nice. The knife arrived very sharp, and the sheath seems thick and substantial. I did use the knife to cut some vines and to trim a lilac bush, and the knife performed very well. I also noticed that the handle is well made and comfortable to hold.

An Excellent Woods and Working Knife

The BSH4 is light enough to go just about anywhere and stout enough to do just about anything. The sheath has good retention and carries very well by either the belt loop or the attached dangler, the knife is comfortable in the hand, the blade excels at cutting wood and basic camp chores, the spine forward of the jimping scrapes nicely, and the blueing is a very nice overall touch. I’m quite happy with the knife and gladly recommend it.

    Great quality, great service

This is such a cool knife. I can’t wait to take it on my next camping trip. It’s of great wood carving quality as well. I’ve been following this account on social media for awhile and not only are they always quick to reply and ship, but I can always count on impressive quality materials and products. Highly recommend!

    Well Built Knife

This is a nice looking, well-built bushcraft knife. The walnut handle fits my hand perfectly. The tang runs the full length of the knife, with a thick but very sharp blade. The knife is a bit blade heavy but this also gives the knife a nice forward thrust when chopping with the blade. It also came with paracord to make your own lanyard. The knife does a great job of cutting into wood. I gave this knife 5 stars because it is a very good knife and I would recommend buying it.

    A great knife

This knife is dark and handsome with a good amount of weight to it. It works well and will last a lifetime if you take care of it.

    Great quality

I received this knife as a giveaway winner. I have purchased BeaverCraft knives before so I already knew the quality would be high. The blade came already sharp. I tested out on basswood that I had on hand and it handled it well. The grip was comfortable even though I am a woman with small hands. Great addition to my collection.

    Real tuff bushcraft knife!

The knife is so awesome! It is built so solid and sharp right out the box. I have used this for about two weeks now and it’s still sharp as the day it arrived. The sheath that comes with it is made from a nice chrome tanned leather. Would definitely recommend to anyone who’s looking for a long term knife.

    Love this knife

It is a beautiful knife, it has a nice balance, it’s a quality made knife with a great feel. I like to carry it when I go for a hike and camping. It worked beautifully to cut small branches for a camp fire and to take off big pieces of wood to make smaller pieces for whittling. Thank you again I love it!!!

Good Bush knife just needs a little work

This is a good knife. It has all the makings of a great one. I was really excited to get a knife that wasn’t made in china or Taiwan. That said I had high expectations for this knife. The 1066 carbon steel that it’s made out of is a long time favorite of mine and is very proven to be tough and serviceable. It’s full tang construction and design is both visually appealing and well engineered with good ergonomics. I love the unfinished handle which fits my hand perfectly and provides good grip for a wooden handle. The blade has a flat grind which you don’t see a lot on cheap knives and provides lots of strength and durability. The sheath is as good as you can get for a leather sheath and provides decent retention. The leather looks classic just like the knife. They even included paracord for making a lanyard. It’s the perfect size to carry on long hauls and still do lots of real work. So why 4 stars? Well it comes down to Quality control. The handle screws on mine were loose to the point that the handle wiggles on the tang. That was easily fixed with some lock tite and some Allen wrench. That should have been done at the factory. The other sticking point for me was the lack of sharpness. It’s just no where close to sharp by my standards. It should easily slice paper or shave hair from my arm for the price they are asking. After about 30 minutes of stones and polishing, I got it there. This is some hard steel. It should hold an edge well, but it should also come sharp from the factory. It serviceable and made of quality materials. They just need to pay closer attention to the details and they will have a top notch product. As is, it’s a 4 star product for me. That said I think I would be hard pressed to find a better knife, made out of this quality steel, for less money.

    Not pretty, but nice knife.

This knife is not pretty. There are machining marks all over the knife, particularly on top where they are pretty deep. The ring on the butt end of the knife has rough edges and looks like very little time was spent on it. Now with all of that said, this is a $40 knife and for a bushcraft knife, how pretty it looks probably doesn’t matter that much.Otherwise, the knife is a great size, has nice balance and has a very comfortable handle that I like a lot. The knife was incredibly sharp out of the box and the blade is incredibly sturdy. This is the type of knife that you could really use for some rough work in the bush and expect it to last for a long time.I really like the sheath too. Very soft leather which could end up being a problem if you are not careful putting the knife back in, but I really like the looks of it and it fits the knife very well.If you don’t care about the rough finish of this knife, then you can’t beat the performance for price.

A rugged knife for tough outdoor tasks.

I recommend the BeaverCraft BSH4 Bushcraft knife for camping and hunting tasks. Great for carving, cutting, slicing and chopping due to the solid full tang design and the high carbon 1066 steel blade. The protective sheath is made of leather and the stitching is strong. It locks in the knife with a leather strap with a hole that pushes down over a metal pommel. There are two back straps to allow for being high up against your belt or lower hanging from belt down to about even with your front pocket pants pocket. The knife has a good heft and balance to it, makes it easy to move and work with. The handle is made from European walnut and has three fasteners to hold it solidly in place. The negative to the BSH4 is that you can see machine swirls along the entire blade under the black coating, making the coating uneven, it looks nothing like the reflective black shown in the advertising. If I didn’t intend to use this as a beater for camping and hunting the blade finish would be a bigger issue for me. The price is right for the this BeaverCraft knife it will definitely be useful and I won’t be worried that this rugged knife can’t take it.

    Excellent value knife!

I am a knife collector.I enjoy collecting high value, high quality knives.I’m not into knives that cost hundreds of dollars each, utilizing super steels an high end components. I appreciate those kinds of blades, but my tastes run more towards good quality knives, that are very usable, but won’t break the bank.At the end of the day, a knife is a tool. Tools are made to be used, and sometimes even “over used”.These Beavercraft knives excell in this regard.Well crafted blades, comfortable, functional handles, hard enough steel that holds a great edge, but is still easy to sharpen. (I think they are either 1095 or 1055).This particular model is quite attractive sporting a blued-like finish, with what appears to be sandlewood, (or similar), grip scales. The deep jimping on the back of the 90 degree spine affords extra traction if using a thumb on the spine style grip.A large lanyard loop extends out of the bottom of the full tang, if attaching a lanyard is your thing. The sheath is an oil-tanned full grain leather with both belt and dangler hanging options. The sheath is well made, but kind of generic. I have 3 Beavercraft knives and the same sheath came with another of the ones I have. It holds the knife fairly securely, although if you hold it upside down and give it a solid shake, the knife will drop out. Not a huge deal, as in real world use, you’d probably never lose it, but it’s still something to note.A better fitting sheath would have been nice, but they have to cut corners somewhere to offer such a quality blade at this reasonable of a price point.Overall, I very highly recommend the Beavercraft knives. You really can’t go wrong with any of the models. Whether you’re a seasoned collector/user like myself, or are just looking for an entry level bushcraft knife to get you started in the hobby, this is a very excellent choice!

    Decent knife, mediocre finish

This knife seems to be made of decent steel, and comes with a great sheath, but the finish is mediocre at best. The bluing is relatively thin, and the metal still has grind marks on all the surfaces, the edge is relatively sharp out of the box, but could really use a good finishing. The wooden scales were dry – bone dry. The sanding on them is good, except for the rounded ends, which show a lot of scratches. There were also a lot of shallow dents and impact marks in the wood, like it had been tossed in a box when finished. The tang screws are blackened, bare metal, and will rust quickly. The fit of the scales to the tang are also slightly off, with the tang extending beyond the wood slightly. The lanyard hole at the end of the tang was cut roughly, so will abrade any cord looped through it. If it wasn’t for the finish issues, I’d rate this a 5.

    Made in Ukraine

Well made knife with a leather sheath. Not quiet as finished as I would prefer. I like the shape of the handle but not the rivets as they are not flush and I can feel when I grip. The handle also had a few rough spots which I smoothed out myself. Overall, it does feel good in hand and I am impressed that it is made in Ukraine. Many good knives on the market and at this price range many options to consider.

Not a bad knife, but rough around the edges

This is all in all a good looking knife, and I like the leather sheath that comes with it. Had good grips, the black finish and wood grips gives it a nice classic look. Had a decent edge when it arrived, but you will want to sharpen it when you receive it. I will say that the only issue I have is the machining marks on the sides of the blade. It is not a smooth cut from the machining process and you can see machine grooves all down the side of the blade, to the point that the “Beavercraft” etching is hard to see in some lights. But it is not a bad knife at all and would be a good addition to a hunting set up I feel. Shipped and arrived quickly.

A little sanding of the finish needed

The handle had some rough spots, but nothing a bit of sandpaper can’t fix. Mine came sharp.

    Rustic Look & Reliable Knife

This full tang knife is built tough and priced flvery fairly. This is the type of knife I’ll actually use while camping unlike some of my other knives because it’s super thick and very robust. The sheath is a nice leather and seems to be quality leather, but it does lead me to my only negative with this setup. When the knife is in the sheath and strapped in, it can still be pulled out of the sheath fairly easily. It’s not a major concern, but it’s definitely something that’s worth noting. All in all, this knife has a pretty cool look to it and it’s priced extremely well considering its a full tang knife, I recommend it for anyone that’s looking for a rustic and reliable knife for outdoor activities.

Very easy to hold and comfortable to wear

The knife itself is veeeeery nice to hold and use. Weighted well and has a nice balance. Chopping food or whittling sticks were both very easy and felt natural in the hand. The material feels substantial and not cheap overseas minimum effort. Also, as someone who loves leatherworking, I gotta say that this sheath didn’t suck. I’m very very picky with sheaths, and I find most of them to mass-marketed junk. This one actually had some quality on it. I will say that its hard to quick draw, so don’t be challenging anyone to knife fights. However, out of all the knives I’ve gotten online (and if you ask my wife, its about 10 too many), this is about the only one I would consider actually using the supplied sheath instead of making my own.

    Wow factor

The knife’s appearance is striking. The blade is extremely well crafted. Its razor like edge is outstanding. The sheath is impressive and is an excellent protector. Overall, this knife is exemplary and a quality representation of the products from Beavercraft. You won’t be disappointed.

    Decent knife, terrible sheath

The quality of the knife is good but the sheath didn’t survive shipping. 1/4″ of the blade was sticking out through the bottom of the leather.

    Quality

Very poor quality knife , the blade grind is pathetic and the blueing is pretty bad also !Doesn’t compare to my BPS knives that I already bought !!! Plus the sheath is pretty cheesy sorry I expected more .

    Good value for money

I purchased this knife to process fire wood while camping and I think its an excellent value for the price. The design is good both in looks and functionality, it’s great to baton wood, the bluing is pretty tough, and the blade holds an edge. Also it feels nice in the hand and is well balanced though the tang is a little proud of the scales. My only complaint would be the sheath, i really like the way it looks but its a bit flimsy, for the price I don’t think this is an issue though. If these guys made a better finished version of this knife with a thicker leather sheath it would be a value at 100 bucks and I’d buy one

    Great knife!

It’s beautiful knife! The knife has a good weight to it. It isn’t to heavy and doesn’t feel like you will break it. I haven’t had a chance to get out and use it much, but I can’t wait to take it camping this summer!

Great knife for a great price

I love it! It’s got a great heft to it while not being too heavy, a really nice feel in the hand, and it’s really beautiful with the walnut handle and the leather sheath. It exceeded my expectations, especially for the cost, it’s a really great knife!

    Great product good price

It came with a razor sharp edge, ive used it a little bit and it has kept its edge well. Nice weight and balance for a bush craft knife. Heavy enough to have a good bite when chopping. Thick blade for durability, but tapers nicely to the edge so still get a good edge. The sheath is very quality.

    Great knife

The knife is razor sharp straight out of the box. The grind on the blade was perfect. The handle is absolutely beautiful and very ergonomic in the hand. The leather sheath is absolutely top quality with the leather so soft. The fit and finish of the knife and sheath are pristine. It is a great product.

Pros – Well made, attractive, like the paracord add-in, sheath is very nice, sturdyCons – Handle is just a bit small for my hands, you can still remove the knife from the sheath even with the retaining strap in place

    Love it!

I do really like the knife Alot but the only thing I could pick on is that the lower finger guard is so shallow. This is not enough for me not to give it 5 stars and this is my favorite of all their bushcraft series knives. So far!!👍👍

    QUALITY

This is honestly one of the best knives I’ve ever gotten. The knife itself is sturdy, well-shaped, and sharp as hell. The case is amazing. It feels very secure, has a couple different carry options, and feels well made. I now want to get a beaver craft axe as well as some others. I’ve been complimented on this knife multiple times, and have had many family and friends jokingly attempt to steal it away from me. I would 100% buy again for myself. But I’m looking at this knife as my new go-to gift.

    Another amazing Beavercraft knife!

I won this knife in a Beavercraft contest on Instagram. When I received the package, it was open, the box was crushed, and the knife had cut through the sheath. I sent pictures to @beavercraft_tools on Instagram. They told me to contact Amazon support to see what they would do about it and let them know what Amazon said. Amazon would only replace the knife if I sent it back. I wasn’t satisfied with that because I wanted to keep that particular knife since I had won it. This is only the third thing I have ever won in my life. I contacted Beavercraft again to let them know what Amazon support said, and that I was not satisfied with their response. Beavercraft was not satisfied with their response either. They let me keep the original knife that I won and sent me a brand new knife that same day. I got the sheath on the original knife fixed, and now I have 2 amazing, insanely sharp bushcraft BSH4 knives! Because of Beavercraft’s amazing customer service, I will be a customer for life. And I highly recommend their carving knives!

    Really good knife.

It’s basic, not crude. Craftsmanship is good. Keeps an edge, easy to sharpen. It is not stainless steel so you will have to keep it clean an dry when you get done with it. But any good tool is worth taking care of. It stays in my truck.

    Knife is quality!

I have purchased the carving ax and a bushcraft knife from Beaver in the past, and was amazed at the quality of both ax and knife and their sheaths. So, with complete confidence, I ordered another knife and sheath. This purchase was surprising. The knife was another well crafted and heavy duty bushcraft knife but the sheath was greatly inferior to the knife it was suppose to protect. The “leather” was very flimsy and so was the hardware. I would not trust it to keep my new knife safe. So I will find a sturdier sheath of quality to protect this great knife. The knife gets 5 stars!!!

    Nice finish

The handle is almost too small so it is a snug fit for a big hand. The coating is a little spotty and thin but not a problem if you keep it oiled up. Rivet screws are a tad loose but it has three of them that can also be tightened with allen wrench. Overall though I like the design and fit with the exception of the tang protrusion on the end. Sheath is nice except of the funky snap button. Been using it and like the size which is just right with the blade having a nice belly.

Great knife!!!! Best nack country knife I own.

This knife is Awesome, super sharp, and sturdy; it is ready for hard work. I used it for a week-long back-country hike, and it performed great. Chopping, prying, and cutting it does it all well while holding an edge. The only reason for 4 stars is that the sheath is disappointing for such a great knife. It doesn’t hold the life securely, and the blade moves around in it. I’ll be making a Kydex sheath very soon.

    Great knife

The Beavercraft BSH4 knife is a very nice addition to my knife collection. It not only has a nice weight to it, it is also very sturdy and sharp. The sheath is beautiful as well. While it fits great in my hand, the only minor complaint that I have is that the screws holding the body of the handle protrude just enough to be felt by my palm. If it was flush it would be perfect. All in all, it’s definitely worth the money.

    Excellent knife for camping!

This fixed blade knife is great for camping, cutting kindling, rope, and other tasks. We did not have to sharpen it like others we have purchased that were not very sharp. This one has a very nice edge. The sheath is beautiful and protects from the sharp blade. It has a nicely shaped handle that allows a firm grip, but if you have larger hands, there are a couple of screws holding the handle that are not flush with the handle and may rub and be uncomfortable. Overall, it’s an excellent knife, and the perfect weight for my hand.

    Balanced durable bush knife

This is my first Beavercraft knife and I am impressed with the quality that it has shown me. It comes packaged in a handsome brown leather sheath with a sort of alloy stud that a leather band wraps around and onto it to secure the knife. A buckle with an extra leather loop gives you a choice with how you want to wear the sheath to your belt. The knife itself is balanced with a smooth woodgrain handle. The single metal piece design seems to be strong, I cut through a small log using another log as a hammer. The blade is keeping its sharpness as well and is probably the sharpest I’ve had with a new knife. I tried the serrated back of the knife with a fire starter and it makes plenty of sparks. The blade side had markings after that, but they rubbed off with my finger back to the original blade finish. This knife also comes with some paracord to tie to the end in case you may need it sometime. Overall, this is a way better knife than you’ll find made elsewhere for this price range.

This is truly a premium knife and sheath!

Given the amount of turmoil in the region, I was extremely surprised to see that this knife was made in the Ukraine. It’s truly a work of art and the manufacturing and finish holds up to very high scrutiny. It’s well balanced, comfortable to hold, an extremely sharp. The sheath is made of very supple, soft leather with a simple clasp and a nice loop for fixing it to your belt. The stitching is crisp and uniform. This is the nicest leather sheath I’ve seen come with any knife I’ve purchased. My one observation that’s worth noting is that it feels like the wooden handle is somewhat unfinished. Meaning I can’t tell if there’s any protective varnish. It’s a beautiful handle and I wonder if it’s intentional so that the handle doesn’t become slick, but I almost feel like I should finish it with polyurethane or something similar. I’m not willing to deduct the star however. It’s an absolutely gorgeous knife and well built knife that I expect will hold up for many many years.

    A match for Ka-Bar, finally

This is the BEST of the knives I’ve collected on here, easily an even match to my Ka-Bar skinner. The high level of quality is manifest of the company’s long history of making top-shelf wood carving tools, no doubt. Not only is it a flat-out Gorgeous blade on all points, but it is also tested to be one tough tool – see their pages, it’s worth the gander. The weight is on the beefy side, but that’s a deliberate aspect of its forging. The balance is decent, not overly heavy on the front or back end. The hilt feels comfortable, not likely to be too taxing on the hand over long period, prolonged use.I’m a wood carver, among other mediums, and I know where I’ll be getting my chisels, etc., for the foreseeable future. I have a set of ‘traditional’ Japanese chisels to test them against – no doubt it’ll be some serious competition.

    Feels Sturdy

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I received this, but I have been looking for a knife like this for a while. Overall the knife is sharp and feels sturdy. I am not a knife expert, but the handle is made from wood and feels comfortable to hold. The overall weight gives it a solid feel and I don’t feel like I am going to damage the knife by cutting through tough objects. The sheath is made from a nice leather and has a soft genuine leather feel. Overall very happy with this and would have no problems purchasing this as a gift for someone.

    Sharp knife, nice sheath

This is a great multipurpose tool. It includes a leather sheath to protect it and me. It is sharp and I appreciate that is has a serrated edge on the backslide.I did leave it out in the rain overnight, and it does have some rust spots on it now.

    Nice feel and weight

This knife makes a great all-purpose hiking/camping knife. It’s small enough to be carried around all day at your side, yet still capable of doing a lot of the work a larger knife would do. The sheath is made of soft leather and stitched together along the full length of the blade. There are two hoops which allow you to carry it on your belt in either a tight or loose position. There is also an optional wrist lanyard that can be attached to the end of the tang for safer handling while chopping or sawing.

    I collect a lot of knives and…

I think they did a great job on this. For the money it just can’t be beat. The leather, stitching and clasp on the sheath are good. No cheap tanning smell on the leather. The finish on the. Knife is really good. It’s it the most expensive ever seen and finished? No, but for the cost it’s really good. Someone out there still takes pride in their work. I really happy to add this to the collection.
