Spoon was a gift. Recipient loved it. But the carabiner was tiny, flimsy, and already broken. Recipient kept the spoon because he wanted a larger carabiner anyway.

Great Travel eating tool
This was a well made spoon that is great for backpacking. Wood can be porous and hard to clean, but this wood is tighter and easy to keep clean. The best part is it’s light and quiet.

Uberleben Spoon
I’ve been using this spoon for a few months now. I use it for eating cereal, soups and stews. It’s nice and smooth. I wash it by hand with the bowl, which I also really like. I don’t often write reviews, but I really enjoy using this spoon.

Spoon seems nice, but the brittle material and poor packaging means it arrived chipped
I wanted to like this, sustainable material with a Nordic feel, at decent price, what’s not to love? Unfortunately the bamboo is pretty brittle, coupled with the meager packaging means it arrived with a major chip, making it unusable. I’m returning with Amazon’s great Prime policy, will update accordingly.

Convenient For Camp Cooking
And when I mean camp cooking, I keep it pretty simple. I bought the lightweight portable grate for my campfire, a small 9″ Wok and that’s my camp cooking utensils. This spoon works great with the small wok. It doesn’t take up alot of space in my kit, and works great when cooking in the wok. When camping, I try to use the KISS principal. Keep It Simple Stupid. And this spoon fits in perfectly. The strap helps to keep it from getting lost. I just hang it on a hook on my folding chair. I cannot wait for Spring to get out camping again!

The walls of the spoon are thin toward the rim. A small chip is on my spoon, I’ll have to sand it down so it does not chip any farther. The photo looks sturdy, maybe ok for jam or sugar.

When is a spoon not a spoon
This “spoon” is more like a small flat piece of wood with a dent in it. It’d be hard to call this much of a “spoon” as it hardly has a cup. It’s sealed-ish. Will need further care if I actually use it to eat. It’s not too big (on the contrary), not too heavy (on the contrary) and isn’t too disappointing, but it’s certainly not something I’d take as a camp spoon. (I’m hungry when camping and I think this is more like something they’d give to people trying to portion control their bites of food.)It’s also made of something called “mala oak”according to the questions which is really isn’t a thing. I tried to google it and nothing comes up. If it’s hardwood you think you’d NEED to know what wood it is as some hardwoods are fine to eat with and some really aren’t. Oak is usually not used for food spoons so it’s weird they’d advertise it that way.

Saftey and appearence
1st off. That awesome logo you see in the picture. Well the actual product has a crappy faint lazy engraving on it. I went back with a wood burner to make it look better.2ndly and most important.I use tung oil. A completely natural and 100% food safe wood finish. I was weary of what these guys used for a finish and I couldn’t find out the exact product they use. It’s also made in China where they don’t have very strict rules about that.I tried to sand off the finish and put a new one on but whatever they used is really in the grain good. My tung oil still won’t soak in. And I honestly just wish they send the product raw with no finish. Especially since wood itself is anti bacterial.

A nice wooden spoon for camping or display. However, don’t be fooled by the name. It is not made in Germany. It’s made in China. Also, the leather strap had mildew and stank badly. I removed it and replaced it with a cord. But the spoon itself looks nice.

The spoon needs a bigger bowl on it.
If you want to have a soup, this is not your spoon. More for oatmeal and things of heavier consistency. It is a nice looking piece, both are that I purchased. The spoon bowl will not hold the right amount of soup like a soup spoon. Good thing I have the large handled wood Viking cup.

Thin and shallow. Not what I had expected and I love it. Rub it with some vegetable oil, let it sit awhile or overnight. Rinse with warm water and wipe it with a paper towel. That will keep the spoon good and seasoned.

This is a cool spoon thats really lightweight and a good size. I still haven’t used it though and I’m not sure if I will because mine arrived with a smell on it. Kind of like something put away wet maybe? I’m not sure but it looks really nice and maybe after washing and leaving in the sun a few times I’ll try it but its funny how your mind will mess with you.

Awesome but fragile
I absolutely love the idea of these. They look cool, but they’re so fragile. I bought two and both splintered around the edge during my excursion. I was bummed abd I need to take better care of them. But they come on a lanyard so you would think they are meant for durability and to be hung. Not so.

Good Spoon
Bought to go with my wood cup while backpacking. Its light weight, sturdy and looks nice. Rub it down with oil from time to time and this spoon should last for a long time!

The spoon you need…
I just received my Überleben wooden spoon, and must say I really like it. It complements the Kuksa I purchased from the same company not too long ago.The size is perfect. Fairly small and lightweight to carry.As with everything else Überleben makes, the products are handmade and add a certain flair to ones traditional outdoors gear.Highly recommended!

Smaller than I expected…scoop isn’t as deep as the picture defines. More for a kids mouth than an adult.
