I love this stove
I can’t believe how quickly this boiled water. I love it and look forward to using it when camping. My only 2 negatives (which really aren’t bad). 1. the set up instructions were not all that clear. It was pretty straightforward and easy to put together but for the first time I didn’t want to just put it together without reading the instructions. Not a problem. I got it figured out. 2. it is LOUD. I wasn’t expecting it to be that loud. I will just have to be aware of it and not boil water for coffee at 4:00 am 🙂 But overall, I would highly recommend it.

Works great, well made and self contained
I was surprised at how much larger it is compared to the photo. I thought it would be roughly the size of a coffee mug but it’s much larger.I love:- the built in ignition and control.- carrying case- fast to boil- secure on the fuel canister- heat protection around panDislike: – wish the fuel and heat exchanger would fit inside the pan for packing size – handle is flimsy and primitive

Works perfectly
I bought this as it’s cheaper than a Jet Boil. I used it on an overnight trip and it worked just as well as the jet boil I used the last time I was on an overnight camping trip. Save yourself some money and buy this one! It’s great for the needs of overnight camping.

Can’t wait to use it in the wild!
I love the look, weight, and functionality of this set. I haven’t used it in the field yet, but it did well in tests at home. My only concern is that the lid seems like it could melt, but I could be worried for nothing.

Got some fuel from REI and put it together – works great! A little bigger than my old JetBoil, but does the same thing at half the price. Will update review if it fails, but I’m happy so far

Great quality
We have used it a handful of times in our camping trips and has become a new favorite, I don’t know what the “original”. brand has that this does not that can justify it been 3xs the price but this little cooker is pretty fast heating up water and meals, also have heated milk for our hot cocoa by the fire. but is so fast heating the milk that had burned the bottom of the pot, not a big issue and is easy to clean, we do have a bigger camping stove that is cumbersome to use, thats why we seem to gravitate towards using this stove

THe viable alternative to a Jetboil , both the original and the Zip
So I purchased the X1 Fire Maple about 2 years ago and have used it about 10-15 times already. I would wholeheartedly recommend it over the much more expensive Jetboil, because it gets the job done, and for a whole lot less. I do not own a Jetboil but from watching the videos the only difference I can see is that it MAY boil water a little faster. Otherwise, I am happy with the construction quality of the materials, and ease of use. For those of you that are considering the Jetboil Zip because of the comparable price , I would advise you to look at the specs. The X1 has a 1.5 liter capacity while the Zip is only 0.8 liter. Also, and this is a BIG difference, the Zip does NOT have a Peizo lighter. That’s right, you have to light it manually with a cigarette lighter every time you want to use it. Of course, the X1 has it’s own push button Piezo lighter, and I never had a problem with it. The Fire Maple X1/X2 is competing against the main Jetboil model, the Zip is not in this class. I guess the X2 is better, but if you can get the X1 cheap then I say go for it, you won’t regret it.

Could be better
From just handling it, there are 3 things that could be better. 1/the inside clear plastic cup should snap on the bottom, like the JetBoil 2/the igniter is way too exposed and once stored inside, could be damaged by anything else you put in there 3/the 200g canister should fit inside for storage and travel. It is missing just a few 1/16″ to fit perfectly.

Warped lid
I received it with a warped lid. The pot and stove part are fine but it’s slower to heat water without the lid. Reached out to the company to order a replacement lid since I had missed the return period before I realized and no response.

Worked for one short season
We bought this last year, used for one backpacking trip and one boating trip and packed it away for the winter season. Went to use it this year and it doesn’t work 🙁 Too expensive to get such short use out of it. Worked great when it worked. The regulator (??) appears to have broken.Update! The company offered a full refund or to send a new one so I opted for a new one. Great customer service, hoping this stoves lasts for years to come!

Amazing to take anywhere
The media could not be loaded.
I’m an EMT so I bought this for the long hours out on a shift. Used it the first time last night working a concert. I made coffee for a dozen of a us and there’s still plenty gas in the tank. The fuel tanks are only around 7 dollars with tax at Walmart with some foam cups and the Folgers coffee packets and some creamers that’s roughly 10 dollars. Overall that’s the best 40 dollars I’ve ever spent it’s definitely going to come in handy now

Definitely worth it
Firstly, I have never owned a jet boil but this has to be right there with it. I have a light weight stove that works pretty good but always wanted something like this.Got it today and of course the first chance I got I hooked it all up and went straight to see how fast it boils. I didn’t time it but it blew my other stove out of the water no pun intended. 2-3 min tops. The flame it produces is like a jet engine. Very satisfied with this would recommend especially for the price!!

Great Stove
Used this for 2 car camping trips and 3 backpacking trips so far this year and has worked perfectly. Been using a larger fuel canister that I have used with a previous stove and still have plenty of fuel left, seems to be very fuel efficient. Just purchased a smaller msi fuel canister which I can fit inside the bowl and a small wash towel and the burner. The larger canister will fit but you have to leave out the bowl. The mesh bag takes a little practice to get things in and out but you do have enough room to put the larger fuel canister on top of the lid and keep it in the mesh bag also. I Have not tried the largest fuel canisters they sell at Wal-Mart.It does have a few things I dislike like the rubber on the handles that fold out, I’m not a fan of these but they work. The lid seals tight on the top but you either have to pour the water out the little hole or be careful when taking off the lid after the water boils. The markings are nice on the inside of the pot which are .5 L and 1 L but I would also like to see oz. markings. This stove works great and boils pretty quickly, I usually fill half way to heat water for food packets and my coffee but can easily boil enough for two people.

Better than MSR, probably not as durable
This thing boils water super quick and very efficiently I must’ve cooked six meals on different occasions with us with one fuel canNot just dry freeze meals but actual pasta and curry just be aware with the temperature because the bottom heats up so quickly you might end up burning the food and getting it stuck to the bottom of the pan but this stuff has a pretty good control over the low settings I’ll also mention in high wind can still get blown out but just hit the ignition again and keep an eye on the flame you should be goodI would also like to mention that for the price it boils faster than my buddies MS our pocket rocket and his whisper light granted there is a weight penalty

Burner wouldn’t hold consistent flame
I had to ignite the thing 15 times or so before the water boiled because the flame kept going out. It wasn’t all that windy or anything.9.28.22 Update:I think it only fair to give kudos to Fire-Maple for reaching out and providing me a replacement. I haven’t had a chance to try it out yet, but one star isn’t fair for a company that doing a good job. I’ll update again once I try out the product on my next outing. Thanks, Fire-Maple.

Positively LOVE this!
I was concerned it would be a cheap knockoff version of the Jetboil, but it is in fact very sturdy material and construction. I had to search to figure out how to use it initially, gas & flames make me nervous so I didn’t want to get it wrong, but after the first couple of times using it, no problems and it’s very easy. East to clean, water boils VERY quickly. I use it for a variety of things when camping, and am so excited to find something that includes a stabilizer, lid…basically everything I need and more to heat up water quickly. I did NOT get any sort of compensation for this review, fyi. Just happy to find a good product.

Won’t stay lit, but still effective if you have the energy
Really wanted to like this product. It’s so easy and convenient but doesn’t stay lit at high elevations. I used top of the line fuel after a looong hike and It wouldn’t stay lit. I had to sit next to it and constantly work the switch to re-light it. Other than that it did work and did boil. Just took a bit more work and longer than I would have hoped

IMO, better than Jetboil
Bought this for backpacking and some-times use in our 4WD Sunrader. When backpacking we use my hiking partner’s Jetboil, which has served him well over many years. I decided to get my own since I could use one for other purposes when not on the trails. For the price you will not find a better stove. Lightweight, generous volume, efficient starter, easy flame adjustment, great nesting engineering. Used it on a camping weekend for coffee and it functioned as advertised, boiling the water fast and effortlessly. The stove has the burner recessed so the flat top could be used to set a frying pan on if you wished.I like to have a base pack weight of 15-16 pounds and this stove will add a little to that, but for the features and pleasures it will provide it is well worth it.

Very satisfied
I bought this after deciding I didn’t want to pay so much money for the JetBoil. Very easy to use, heats up very quickly (to boil less than 3 minutes), and nice and compact. The handles are a bit tricky at first, but got used to it very quickly. It didn’t come with the pan adapter. The diameter is ever so slightly different than the JetBoil, so the adapter you find in stores does not fit. I ended up ordering one from some site (can’t remember which site it was) to be able to use different pans. Overall, very happy for the price I paid.

Good value for cooking in the trail
I bought this cooking system before a section hike on the Appalachian Trail. It is not as compact as the Jetboil, but it’s reasonably sized, and fits nicely in my 65 liter pack. It is sturdy, but I recommend getting a stand for the fuel canister for better stability. It works fine with standard Jetboil fuel canisters, boiling water rapidly just as you would expect.

Love it!
I love my Firemaple boiler. Unfortunately, the igniter just stopped working this last weekend but I feel like I’ll be able to get that repaired and be ready to be back at it. Also, I was able to just light it up with a match and was fine but the ignition worked great before that for the last year.

Stability may not be its greatest strength
After some use, it appears as if having the whole setup be stable is not easy or simple. Even with the attached plastic “spider”. Maybe it has to do with the size of the Gas Tanks I’ve purchased.Beyond that, it heats water very fast.

100g (small) fuel canister ONLY
Planned a last-minute backpacking trip only to find out there was a burn ban where we would be hiking. Since I couldn’t use my BioLite campstove, I had to find an inexpensive gas alternative. I am so happy with this little Fire-Maple system for its light weight, compactibility, and boiling powers (reach a boil in under 2 min easily!)The only thing I would’ve looked at more closely is that it can only compartmentalize the 100g fuel canisters. If you want to store more gas, look at the system that is the next size up. Aside from that this is the perfect cooking necessity for heavy treks on extended hikes. Cant wait to bring it on the next adventure. Happy trails!

Great value
Great value. I have taken it on a couple of hike trips with my son, who has a Jetboil. Actually easier starting than the Jetboil. It does take a little longer to come to a boil, as the ” pot” is a bit larger. So far, I’m very satisfied with this product.

Comparable to more expensive brands
I bought this for my son for his backpacking trip. We have a similar stove that is a well-known brand and very expensive, but I wasn’t sure I was willing to spend as much for his stove. I took a chance on this stove and it worked well for his week on the AT. It’s lightweight and easy to use. Great for a first time backpacker.

Amazing non-jet boil option
I could not be happier with the quality of this portable cooking option. It is easy enough for a 12 year old to use, cleans up well, is very lightweight while offering a large container for cooking. I was surprised how much fit into it…likely could fit 2 cans of soup. Very happy with this purchase. Highly recommend!

It’s not the best, but it’s good.
It seems about as well made as all the others, but with a few issues. The knobs that hold the pot onto the stove are too tight to remove once you have a pot full of boiling liquid. This particular model didn’t come with a stand, which was my fault for not reading, but it is ultimately something you’d need unless you have a flat surface. I’ve fired it up multiple times, each time no problem. The handles on the pot are flimsy, almost too much so, but good enough for the price. Just don’t use them to try to remove the pot from the stove. The box claims 1:45 for 0.5l of water to boil, but mine was more around 2:15, and a full litre took 6:35. It goes without saying that different gasses may produce different effects, but this is what I got. Overall, it’s the honda civic of its category. Nothing amazing, cheaper than the best, and entirely capable.

Pretty damn cool
Use it at work almost everyday depending on what u make it’s a pain in the ass to clean but hot water and the sprayer cleans it off I make anything from soup to fajitas/stews it it works just great for working outdoors. Doesn’t leave a scratch no matter what kind of metal u use to stir. I do dislike the foam that goes around it it’s a pain to get off but it is the only way for it to stay on so it is what it is but would recommend

My new favorite piece of gear
*** 1 1/2 YEAR UPDATE ***OK, so it’s been 18 months and I still love it! I mostly use it for coffee and it does an excellent job heating water fast! I’ve used this on kayak trips, hunting trips and camping while doing some fence work. Nothing has broken on it and it still performs like the day I bought it. I’ve used it mostly between 5000 – 6800 feet elevation. In the snow, the fuel seems to slow down but still works great. The cooking set I’ve been using is this Stanly set – https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MSDVPWV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The frying pan has a pretty thick bottom and does the job for me. I hope this helps someone decide to purchase or not. The locking handle is really great, the fabric handle the other brands use have no support.(Original review below)I took this on a 3 day kayak camping trip and it was the best thing ever! My buddy had the name brand one which cost twice as much, and his didn’t have all the nice features of this Fire Maple. The Fire Maple performed just as good as the one he had. I made eggs, Bacon, steak and coffee and it’s now going with me on all my trips. I really like it. I would suggest using a good thick bottomed pan since the heat is directed to a small area and you will burn food fast on a thin pan. I used one from a Stanley kit. Cast iron would be good but not practical for my water sports. If I could swap this out with the name brand one that’s twice as much, I’d keep this Fire Maple. It performs great and I love the locking lid and rigid handle. If you’re on the fence, buy it, you will love it. If not, Amazon has great customer service on returns.

Good Value
I bought this instead of the jetboil, not the best quality, but good enough to last you a few times. However, it boils water really fast, the lever to adjust the flame fell off, not good, put it back on but still not happy about that. Get the Jet Boil instead if you do serious backpacking, for me this one is good enough.

Perfect for Military
Just buy it. It’s cheap and works just as good as a jet boil for less money. Depending on the volume of water it can heat up with in seconds. I took it the field for 2 weeks and was able to use it for shaving, make coffee, and even heat up all the Chili Mac MREs. It was easily packed in my assault pack but if we moved I packed it in the Main Pack.I took it out on a personal camping trip and was able to cook steak and eggs if you monitor the heat as it gets hot fast.Note I rarely ran it for over 15 minutes-ish. It is slightly understandable so I recommend the jetboil kick stand. The handles are not the best but do their job.I also recommend some sort of French press for coffee. I have a $25 Stanly travel press that worked great on the move.

Worth the money but not as a luxury
Overally, I really enjoyed this product. I went out for a couple of days and this product was awesome. I had some buddies that used Jetboil and so I decided to try this out and it was a life saver. Why the 3 star review? Well, I view this product more as a luxury and I thought saving money would be better than just buying the name brand… But… I found that this product took WAY longer than a jetboil. I am not sure if it is more efficient or less efficient in terms of gas to the other one but it took me about 10-20 minutes to heat up some water depending on how cold it was outside, whereas the jetboil that I bought to replace it took only a minute (+- 30 seconds). If you are trying to save money and time (and potentially fuel efficiency) isn’t an issue, I would highly recommend this product for the value. If you do go with this product, do NOT tip it when its going. Try to start it on the ground because I found this product is a lot more sensitive and it cause flames to shoot out of the sides. Also, it is definitely not a “first time light” in my experience.

Great for the money…
My girlfriend has a JetBoil, so I know about them and have used it many times. I personally like this one better because it seems to take propane better than the JetBoil (versus the propane/butane mix). Build quality seems exactly the same. The cup is a little bigger and it has an igniter which is very convenient versus using a lighter to light the JetBoil… and at less than half the cost. 5 stars

Just as good as JetBoil
All my friends have JetBoil stoves and they swear by them, but this one is just as good. Just because something is made in America doesn’t mean its impervious to wear and tear. JetBoil stoves can melt and crack and catch fire, so I decided to get this cheaper version that takes the same fuel, in case I break it like I do everything else. It works great. There is a plastic ignition switch that might break one day, but that’s about it. I’ll just use a lighter when it does. I like the attachment that lets you put a different pan on top of the burner. I use it for my 1-cup moka pot to make coffee.

Brand Name Twin for less
Rarely do I go out of my way to write reviews, and this time was one of those times.I went on Amazon originally in search of a JetBoil system for a backpacking trip, but instead was sticker shocked so I sought out a dupe..lone and behold, this nearly matched JetBoil in every way except cost.Soo, after one trip later, I highly recommend this as a more cost effective alternative to the fancy name brands. It boiled water in under 3 minutes (I lost track of time since I thought it would take longer, but it didn’t). And to make it all better, it’s lightweight with a 3 year warranty. This checks every box and then some.

Budget stove boils water
Not much heavier than a Jetboil. Does the job on a budget. Nice tight sealing sip lid. Comes with a plastic cup too that nests inside even with fuel can.

Beats the zip
So I’m changing my review. After using many times this absolutely blows away the jet boil zip. The only win for the zip is its lighter in weight and a bit smaller otherwise it’s not even close. Head to head this unit out performs the zip. It will boil 500 ml of cold water in just under 4 minutes vs just under 5 minutes for the zip. Also the piezo lighter is a plus. I use this almost daily to make a tea container. It works great Now regretting my zip purchase

Works well so far
Used it for the first time at Big Bend. The photo instructions were a little tricky but once I figured it out, it worked well. Haven’t used it enough to make the gas container empty, made two full boiling pots of water so far. Next time I use it I am going to time it to see how long it takes for the water to boil.

Works Great and comes with all the extras!
I hike with it and it’s perfect for two people. I would get a smaller size if you solo hike.

Nothing not to like about this stove.
Does the same things a Jetboil will at a much lower price. You can nest a cannister inside the pot along with the rest of the components. It will bring water to a boil in around 2 minutes. Buy an adapter and you can also use 1 pound propane cannisters as fuel. It actually heats a little faster using propane. Handle is sturdy and gizmo that holds the lid in place is a nice touch. It works with standard isobutane cannisters as well as the large Coleman cannisters.
