Works Excellent
This product works excellently with a magnesium fire starter. Even in the wind I was able to get this lit and making a nice steady fire. Would highly recommend for backpackers who have a hard time kindling a fire because of elemental conditions or being beginners.

Just a little of this tinder goes a long way.
A thick, quick fire starting tinder which is easy to use and pack away. A little strand goes a long way as it blossoms out into a fuzzy mass that lights like a stove. Really a nice way to carry tinder.

Good To Have Available
Item is similar to Fat Rope except this is made jute twine saturated with something similar , if not, petroleum based accelerant. Great combination to get a fire started in any weather condition. Great product.

A must have for back woods survival !
Very simple to use. A small piece just frayed up will easily light and burn long enough to get fire lit with your ferro and striker. Just one of the three supplied carried with your kit all you need to keep things light.

What a handy tool, clever idea.
Never pack extra tinder, again. Very small and light item. It can be secured on a single molle loop. (Some find that info important, like me) I tried making one of these. I couldn’t get the weight down or properly wax the cordage without a tremendous mess. This item is worth the money, by far.

Works like a charm!
The media could not be loaded.
The waxed jute cord works very easily, and literally anyone can do it. Each cord, can light dozens and dozens of fires if you have everything prepped. No, it is not for lighting a LOG on fire. This is why we create tinder bundles around this cordage. The cordage should be considered for emergencies, which means the more of it that you use is the less you have for the next fire. Prep a tinder bundle and place the jute cord within it. Then once it is all lit. Add bigger twigs, and then sticks. I only say it this way because there are people on this site who do not understand the Mechanics of building a fire.

lots of ignition material in a small package
Works great. You can unwind and cut the strands and use a very little jute at a time and keep a few small pieces handy to use with your spark tool (flint & steel, ferro rod and striker, matches/lighter, e.g.). Rough up a small strand with a knife or stone and make it like-lint and it will catch a spark and burn long enough for you to get your tinder bundle lit. There might be cheaper options for ignition material but this was an ok price to me and I expect the jute to last for a while. It is more convenient than char cloth as well in that it is not fragile and doesn’t flake.

Good product
Very easy to pack and transport. Since it’s several cords twisted into one rope, you can take only what you might need, plus extra.Lights pretty easy, doesn’t burn too fast, easy to handle.Five stars.

Very easy to use. Rope + Flint = fire
I’ve been using the Bush craft survival rope to start fires in the backyard for several weeks now. When the weather was warm the rope was working really well with the Flint. It would start up right away and catch fire. Now that it’s colder,I’ve left the rope outside in a tin box and when I tried to start it it took several more attempts than it used to right out of the box. It still works and I would recommend it. Just loosen up the string and really fray the ends to get the spark to start the fire. No need for a lighter. Flint starts it right up.

Doesn’t work as well as I hoped
This is the first “stick” style fire starter I’ve used before, though I’ve used other types of starters before. It can be a bit tedious to break down into pieces thin enough to burn well. Even then, while it really ignites, don’t expect it to light a log (even a very dry one) without plenty of kindling. It just doesn’t burn hot enough. It’s nice that this is waterproof, but otherwise I get better results making my own fire starters from cotton balls and Vaseline, or from dryer lint, egg carton and cooking oil.

Thankful I didn’t actually need to use
I purchased these at the end of September to throw in a couple bags for my family. It’s January, so not a terribly long time since purchase and I went to open the box and get these prepped… only to find 3 moldy ropes. Gross. They’ve been in a semi-finished basement with no moisture issues, box has no visible water marks or anything on it… just plain moldy. I took pics but didn’t post because I know it will pop to the top of the reviews and I’m sure this is a great product if you don’t have this faulty batch. If you are planning on using these in the future but not immediately, open the box upon receipt. Unfortunately I’ll be throwing these out and ordering from elsewhere. Pretty disappointed. What a waste.
